Ropes [Jun. 6th, 2006|10:22 am]
New England Indoor Rock Climbers
Hey, dont know if anyone still reads this buut. I need to buy a new rope. Anyone know of a place to get a decent deal? And does anyone have any suggestions for a rope. It needs to be a 60m dry rope, and i would prefer it be the style where the sheeth pattern changes at the halfway point in the rope. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Hi All,

I just moved up to Brattleboro, VT and miss my former MD climbing life. I'm in search of anything... places to go, people to go with, information on nearby rock or gyms-- hoping i get some kinda help :)

Climb on,

Hello dear all - I just got into indoor climbing about a month ago, and I am enjoying it tremendously! It is definetely very addictive.
I have a couple of problems/concerns, and just wanted to see if anyone has any advice for me.
1) I bruise really easily, and I keep bumping into the walls with my knees. Basically, my legs and especially knees are covered with really big ugly bruises. Its not that big a deal (other then the fact that I can't wear skirts anymore...sigh) but is there any way to either avoid bruises or speed up the healing?
I am using Arnica gel and taking Arnica tablets, but it just doesn't seem to help...
2) I started to get blisters on my hands. Sorry for sounding like a sissy, but I'm a "girlie girl" and wanted to see if anyone knows how to avoid that too? Wearing gloves is not an option, and I tried taping up, but it restricts the movement as well. Any advice there?
Thank you all so very much in advance, and I am thrilled to discover climbing!

Hey everyone-- I just started climbing at Petra Cliffs in Burlington, VT. I'm taking a 6 week women's clinic and it's totally awesome. So far I've had one class and one in-between session with my climbing partner.....which I think brings my total number of climbs to 4. I just bought a harness because the rentals are brusing me under my legs and I can't wait until it arrives so that I can try it out. Just wanted to say hello!

[Current Mood |hopefulhopeful]

Hello there! I am new to this community. When I went to school in Worcester, MA I climbed at the YMCA's rock climbing walls on and off two summers ago. I moved back to CT when i graduated and i havent done alot of climbing since. I am hoping to start up again, but there arent alot of gyms in Ct, infact very few near me. I am hoping to meet some other climbers who might be interested in giving me some advice on which gyms in the area are better, maybe even belaying me a time or two :) I have to warn you im way outa shape and practice, but i am very excited about starting up again.

I used to climb indoors once a week, and now it's more like once a month because it's hard to find people to go with. I have enough gear to climb outdoors and just got some ice gear also. My question is how do climbers start out on rocks and ice? I definately don't have enough money for a guide, and I don't know anyone that actually knows how to climb ice. Do most people buy gear and fool around with it, or is learning from someone with experiance the only way? Thanks

If you need a ride drop a reply here, otherwise I'll be the guy with a t-shirt, ugly brown khakis, 5.10 shoes, black diamond harness (black), maybe doing some lead climbing if i remember my rope. Hope to see you there!
